Winter in MELBOURNE 2016- Day 7
Day 7
I woke up at 8am today. I prepare breakfast, and sort out the clothes from the dryer as we will be going to Melbourne city centre today.
Despite putting "bait" for the kangaroos, no signs of them at all. Really no fate this time to catch a glimpse of the wild kangaroos.
Kids woke up at 9am and after breakfast, we showered and clean up the place. Left at about 10.15am.
First stop is GORGE chocolate (http://gorgechocolates.com.au). Their chocolate is pretty good, very nice and fine plus not too sweet. We sample the chocolate before deciding to purchase a few to eat.
Cost: $5.45 per bar
Next stop is Apostle Whey Cheese (http://apostlewheycheese.com.au). The lady who attended to us is very attentive and she explains each and every cheese in good detail manner during our mini tasting session. We were also able to see part of the cheese making process through a glass window. We bought some Smear Ripened Havarti Style Cheese to munch along the way. Cost: depends on the weight
There is a cool board in the cheese shop:
And the kids enjoyed watching the donkey and calf that are staying there.
After this 2 stops, we make our way to Colac for lunch. The road was pretty foggy on the way to Colac.
Colac is a pretty nice town with a couple of restaurant and shops like Coles, Target etc.
We then purchase their 24 hours unlimited parking at a mall next to the hotel via reception @ $25 per day. Valet parking also available at $35 per day.
We had some coffee and cheesecake before leaving back to hotel at 6pm.

Cool ... |
We reach Colac at 12pm and decided to go for Lemongrass Thai Restaurant. They serve set meal for lunch at a reasonable price.

We then drove to Melbourne city with a quick stop at petrol station and McD (we can't get enough of their fries, can we?)
We reach city centre at about 3pm, checked in to Somerset Elizabeth @ Melbourne City Centre. Guests of the hotel can park at the 10 mins parking zone to unload luggages and check in.
Hotel room is good. They have wifi, washer, dryer, microwave, dish washer, cutleries, utensils, baby cot on request (complimentary). They also have two TVs (one in bedroom and one in living room so both adult and kids can watch their favourite channels.
A nice touch from the hotel... |
Location is wonderful, located just next to Emporium, H&M and there is lots and lots of restaurant, cafe just within walking distance. If you just plan to stay in city centre, definitely can do without car.

About 4pm, we went to DFO Essendon for shopping (free parking).
There is not so much bargain though even though it is an outlet. Manage to grab an Osh Kosh jeans for Jaclyn @ $10. Other than that, kids also get a set of DIY necklace and pirate ship set @$5 each.
Paying for their DIY set |
For dinner, we walk out to the row of shops just opposite the hotel and join the Q for Shanghai Street. The pan fry dumpling and xiao long bao is good.We had a good dinner. We also takeaway some red bean bao for breakfast tomorrow.
Daddy and Justin went back to the hotel to shower and rest. Being girls, Jaclyn and me decided to do some light walking at H&M. It is a huge 4 storey branch, super big!
We shop till about 9pm and then Jaclyn wanted to go toilet so we wear back to the hotel to shower and rest.
