Jewel @ Changi Airport, Singapore

Jewel is the latest addition to Changi Airport and one of its kind. It has the world tallest indoor waterfall and the complex is amazing with a great variety of retail shop, restaurant and a sky garden. Of course on our trip home this winter, we had to go and check it out.

We decided to stay two nights at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport before our outbound flight back to Dubai so that we could experience what Jewel has to offer.

It is easily assess from all terminals at Changi, one could walk through the linkway or take the train to Terminal 1 which has direct assess to Jewel.

The waterfall is the centrepiece and we get different views from different point. If you would like to experience it while sitting in the sky train, take the train that goes from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 and you can pass by the waterfall literally just next to you. From the sky garden, the waterfall looks great and head to basement 2 and you could see the bottom of the waterfall through a glass. Its amazing!

Walking through the fake snow

We enjoyed the sky garden as well (entrance fees is at SGD 5 to access the garden, slide, foggy bowl). Christmas is just over but the Christmas theme is still ongoing at Jewel when we were there. There is fake snow at a certain interval, the garden has fake snow (feeling squishy) so tourist can pretend walking in the snow, there is a Q to get in but it is complimentary with the entrance ticket to the sky garden.

If you would like to try the sky net, it is additional fees, I have to admit it is quite scary as we literally look down to the mall when walking through the sky net.

With the opening of Jewel, I think Changi Airport itself has turned into an attraction. I for one definitely would not mind transiting longer at the airport. There is so much to do. Lots of cuisine to try and the sky garden and waterfall is nice as well.

Some of my favourite restaurant such as Sushi Tei, Sembawang White Mee Hoon, Dian Xiao Er, Nine Fresh, Din Tai Fung has opened their branch at Jewel and there is no need to travel far from airport to enjoy these nice food.

Kids trying Bird Paradise ice cream, there was a long Q so we decided to give it a try. Very unique flavours- spiced pear, lychee and raspberry, white crysanthemum, etc

However, I did not enjoy their retail shops much as the promotion is not great and the prices seems to be on the higher end which is understandable considering it is at the airport but if this can be improved, it would probably bring more business because now that it has becoming an attractions, even Singaporean started heading to Jewel for a day out to enjoy the mall. Changi Airport is no longer just a place to go when travelling, it can be a day trip out as well.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and enjoyed exploring Jewel as well. till next time :)
