Winter in Perth 2014 (Day 13 and 14-FINAL)

Day 13

Today we will be driving 50 mins to the south of Perth to Rockingham. This is where we will be going on a Dolphin Sighting Tour (Three Islands Wildlife Cruise). 

Our initial plan is to go to Penguin Island but alas, it is closed from early June after the Western Australia Public Holiday to 14th September for the winter mating season. So we have to settle for the Three Island Wildlife Cruise which we gets to see dolphins, seals and some birds.

We reached at about 11.30am, so we booked for the 12.15pm cruise. Grab a quick bite nearby and some photo time while waiting for the boat to arrive.

Still no dolphins.. started to play..Notice that hubby and me will each hold on to one kid... Just to make sure they don't do any unexpected stunt and fall into the sea!

We manage to see quite a few dolphins during the tour.. some alone and some in pairs... The kids are excited and will shout dolphin each time they saw them... if they see two dolphins, will shout "dolphin, dolphin", so cute!!!

The tour took about an hour or so.. and we are back on the mainland... The kids spotted a playground and ran towards it!

While the kids were playing, I grab a muffin from the cafe to share with everyone. They played for a while and we then drove back to Perth.

Kids nap on the way back and we went to King's Park again.. this time we went to the huge grass area for the kids to roam and used up their unlimited energy!

Drove around city area and saw "Wagamama". Brings back memory as hubby and I had their noodles before while studying in Nottingham, UK so decided to have it for dinner today!

Cute baby chair which can just attached to the table. Save space, but initially was a bit scared that it won't hold the weight. But seems quite sturdy!

Food here are ok... nothing fantastic. Most importantly is the great memories of dining at their restaurant outlet while studying :) 



Tomorrow will be our last day in Perth before flying back home!

Day 14 (Last day in Perth)

Today will be our last day in Perth and we will be taking 5.10pm flight back to Singapore. Well, of course we would make use of our last few hours in Perth to visit few more places. 

We have more or less packed our luggage the night before so in the morning, we squeeze the rest of our stuff in and we are off to few more adventure.

We didn't have time to explore Swan Valley yet so we took the chance to visit the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. There are some chocolates for sale, and some for sampling. Also, a cafe if you want to sit down and have something to eat. Behind the glass, one could see the staff making chocolates. However, we were quite disappointed that there is no tour for the chocolate factory.

The free chocolate sampling has no limits, as long as you scoop them onto your hand and no takeaway.. so you can eat as much as you like. Of course the kids went crazy with the sampling :)

Next up, we went to Cuddly Animal Farm to finish up our fresh vegetables that we bought during the trip. We still have some pumpkin and carrots left..

Finally, finished up all the food for the animal and it is time for the kid's meal...I cooked porridge for them in the morning and kept warm inside a thermos...

After the kids finished up their lunch.. Jaclyn went for a pony ride @ AUD$5. One could just went to ticket counter and buy a card coupon and pass to the pony ride staff. Then it entitles to one time pony ride.. see how happy our girl is...

Justin didnt want to ride as he is scared so we didnt force him... we just stand aside and watched his elder sister riding pony.

There are still a bit of time before our flight so hubby and me had lunch at Chesters of Heafod Glen. The kids already had their meal so they just munch a bit of our food.

The restaurant is quite kids friendly and both kiddos got a colouring pack and somethings to work on while waiting for the food.

Food has arrived and we did rush them a bit as we have a flight to catch. I had braised duck and it comes with fried tofu at the side.. pretty fusion I must say.. not the best duck I tasted though...

We were quite disappointed as the review for this place is actually quite good. Anyway we are pretty late for check in so we quickly depart, drove to the airport, return our car and we are on our way home.

Overall, we had a good trip... love the weather, the koalas, the kangaroo, the dolphins and the tiramisu... Perth, we will be back! Till then...adios!

    In that case, I wish you and your family a great time ahead :) As the matter of fact, I actually went to Perth again in June 2015 as we had a really great time in 2014. I revisited the restaurant that serves the yummy tiramisu and had a good time staying one of the farm/orange, grapefruit orchard few hours away from Perth city. If you are bringing young kids, the farm/orchard stay will be wonderful. If you do need more information on that, do let me know. I will try my best to post my trip diary on my 2015 trip soon :) Cheers!

Kidzoona indoor playground at Jusco Bukit Indah, Johor, Malaysia.

We recently brought the kids to Kizoona at Jusco Bukit Indah. I find it very worth it in terms of the price and the facilities are also pretty good.  The place is not big but there is enough things for the kids to spend a few hours there... Includes bouncing castle, some individual shops (flower shop, cafe, supermarket for kids to play around), a big pool of ball, some cars, and a huge rolling ball-like thing where kids can go in and rotate. Fully air conditioned and there is only one entrance to go in and out. Parents can stay inside to accompany your kids at no additional charge. Just remember to bring your own socks otherwise have to purchase before going in. Toilet is not in the playground so there only cons is have to bring the kids out to toilet. Tickets are for a whole day so unlimited entry throughout the day.  Kids can play, go our for lunch and then come back and play again.  If there is two of you looking after the kids , can take turn to go shop

Chinese New Year Celebration in Dubai

This is our second year residing in Dubai and Chinese New Year is not a public holiday in the UAE. This year we decided to stay in Dubai as there is no school holiday that coincides with the Chinese New Year period. There is a few celebrations going on as there is quite a number of Chinese in UAE. There is lion dance competition at Dubai Park and Resort, lion/dragon dance parade at City Walk and some celebrations at Jumeirah Lake Towers. Many Chinese restaurants offer reunion dinner package (at a premium price of course) and some renowned hotels offer buffets with Chinese new year theme.  One week before the celebration, I started making some Chinese new year cookies/snacks to get into the mood. My favourite is the pineapple tarts to symbolise wealth. I even attempted to make the fillings from scratch but I have to admit it is a lot of work for 36 tarts that I make. Great for family/ friends bonding- KUKUP 2 day 1 night TRIP

Situated in Pontian District, Johor, Malaysia- KUKUP Fishing Village is a wonderful place for family/friends bonding.  The chalets are build on the sea and there is not much attractions around the area so basically most activities are done in or around the chalet which is great for bonding. There is no place to park the car in front of the chalet as all of the chalets are build on water, so do park your car (if you are driving) at the designated car park before the jetty. We parked at JJ Carpark (RM7 for 24 hours) and the staff send us to the jetty area using his van. We can then walk or take a boat to the chalet.  We decided to walk....and we manage to enjoyed a cooling and refreshing coconut pudding on the way... SECOND HONEYMOON : 10 Days @ United Kingdom and Switzerland (Day 2)

Day 2 Waking up at 3.30 am this morning due to jet lag ( It is already 11.30 am in Singapore), spend some time blogging on first day of my trip and about 6.15 am, hubby and me went out for a walk to catch the sunrise at 6.28 am. Sunrise is pink purple-ish and it is pretty.  Pink sunrise This is the farmhouse that we stayed in for 2 nights. The owner stays here as well and have 3 bedrooms up for Bed and Breakfast. The owner's grandchildren stays here as well when we are here and they are really friendly, was waving to us when we strolled the outside of the house. Later on, during breakfast time they played with me as well, sharing their toy car and truck. The elder grand-daughter even asked why I walked outside so early in the morning as it was cold... Travel tips to Perth in Winter

My first travel post will be sharing our family winter trip in Perth.  HOW LONG TO GO: Our trip is 2 weeks long as part of it is hubby's business trip, a trip of 5-7 days will be sufficient. For those planning for a trip this June School Holiday , Perth is actually quite a nice place to go. In contrary to normal believe that weather is bad in Australia in winter, we actually find it quite cooling and not too windy or rainy as long as you avoid Busselton and Margaret River area. A day trip to Fujairah, away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai.

Half term break- a phrase uncommon to schools in Asia. We have always known all breaks as school holiday. Here in international school , there is spring break, winter break , summer break and in between there is also some short half term break. This is the kids first school holiday after starting school in April 2018 so after a busy one and a half month, kiddy have 4 days to rest. We spend the first two days hanging around the house, went to indoor playground and accompany daddy to collect his new car! With our new ride, we decided one morning to go for a day trip to a nearby emirate. Fujairah is one of the seven emirates that makes up United Arab Emirates (UAE). It lies on the East Coast of UAE along the Gulf of Oman, well known for its beaches and Hajar Mountains. Its landscape is very much different from Dubai. Kuala Lumpur and Genting Getaway April 2014 (Part 1)

We love going on road trip to Malaysia for various reasons. First, I could just pack anything (I meant anything at all-clothes, pampers, rice grain, thermos etc without worrying about exceeding weight limit) Secondly, I can just dump everything into the car's boot (stroller, luggage, pillows, bolster) Thirdly, food and accommodation is relatively cheaper in Malaysia as compared to Singapore due to the exchange rates so it went easy on our budget :) Lastly, with kiddos on board especially young ones (less than 1 year old) it is easy to go on road trip. It offers great flexibility, anything I want to breast feed, I can just stop and breastfeed at the back seat, anytime we need to change a soil pampers, we could do so either in the car or the nearest changing areas. There is no need to rush for flights, catching trains at certain schedule etc... Restaurant Albergue 1601 Review (Macao)

I came across this restaurant while searching for where to dine during our trip. The review is good with a few recommendation of dishes to order. Plus, the location is near St Paul Ruins so it kinda fit in our schedule and here we are. This is really the best meal during our trip and I would say one of the best meal I ever had in my life so ya, I definitely highly super recommend this place when u come and visit Macao :) Ambience is good and definitely good enough for special occasion. It is located in this super old building that is build in 1601 hence the name. The building has been redecorated and it looks pretty now.  After we ordered, we were given a complimentary bread basket and warm/cold water.  Enjoying the warm complimentary bread basket Yummy We have ordered stuffed squid as entree but it was kinda disappointing. Playground @ Changi Airport Terminal 1, Singapore

There are lots of free playground in Singapore. From neighbourhood playground to shopping mall playground to playground in airport. Most of the playground are free except those proper indoor playground with huge slides, ball etc. Airport playground is cool cause we get to see aeroplane, it is fully air con and the playground are clean. Admiring and wondering how it moves up and down... Peace to the world! Love my boots! Time for some playground. This playground is situated at the public area, there are also bigger playground located after check in which we will visit if we are travelling (we usually arrive slightly early so that the kids can play at the playground before boarding). Activities area whereby paper and colour pencil is provided. Art work! Step stool for the kids... Winter in Perth 2014 (Day 3 and 4)

Day 3 After spending 2 days in Fremantle, we checked out of the hotel and drove into the Perth CBD area... It is about half an hour drive and our first stop is to fill our stomach at Hog's Breath, highly recommended by my ex-colleague who used to study in Perth.
