Summary of the month of OCTOBER!

Starting from this month, I am trying to do a summary of each month just to document a couple of memorable events that happens , even the tiniest little things that we do :)

October is a special month as it is my cutest hubby and daddy's birthday...

Getting present for hubby is always an headache because he is very particular with his things. He likes to keep it simple... 

Last year I treated him at Gordon Ramsey @ MBS, the year before that- a personalised Photobook and a purse a year before that.

This year, I wanted to get him a drone that he wanted but he refused. And it is not something I could buy for him myself (as I am not sure which model and types that he wanted) so I thought maybe a short getaway will be nice... and a surprise one... and something that wouldn't make him tired... Desaru crossed my mind but that means he had to drive 1-2 hours there and 1-2 hours back, plus driving us around to get food etc... so crossed that off the list.

So when he is out for business trip to London, I saw this promo and booked us a 4 days 3 nights Royal Caribbean cruise to Port Klang. Fuss free and once we boarded, hubby can sleep all he wants and get the rest he needed....I wanted to book it on 7th October weekend which coincides with my dad's birthday but realise that I had Piano Theory Exam (luckily I realise that before I booked)...

So we had an early birthday celebration for the two big boys in my life....

It is everyone's first time cruising and everyone is super excited and happy beyond my expectation. Probably the best decision I made in a long time....even kids said that the few days they are on board, it is the happiest day for them (so far.. I am sure next time they will have other happier day.. like the day they get married :p)

This month, we are pretty obsessed with Avocado plus vanilla ice cream. Avocado has been selling at a steep price nowadays with very very minimal offer. Used to have some promo every now but these days, not much discount. Anyway I have been craving for it for ages and since no promotion for ages, I just buy them anyway ... healthy food (minus the ice cream of course)

And, I found my new favourite vanilla ice cream from Bulla (2 L for $12.95). Super yummy!

And on big boy's actual birthday, we had HaiDiLao at IMM. It was pretty impromptu as initially we wanted to had a simple dinner at Sushi Express, Clementi Mall.

But daddy comes home early and we thought lets have HaiDiLao since it is not peak dinner hour so we should be able to get a seat...

Service is amazing as usual and they have this light up LED board. They also give fruit platter for birthday boy.

It is also the actual Mid Autumn Festival today, so we got a complimentary mooncake as well.

And 7th October is approaching and it is exam day!!!!

Buried myself in books...

This month, we also started the kids on swimming class. My conclusion---> if you want your kid to learn something, outsource it!

The kids improvement in swimming class is outstanding. Within 1-2 weeks , they are not afraid of water, can put their head inside the water and started kicking. Amazing!

Emmanuel's birthday party is amazing with cake baking and playing at the outdoor playground. Thanks for inviting Jaclyn. She had a blast!

This month, I rejoined the Facebook cooking group and got more ideas and encouragement in cooking more "special" food...

My SIL baby is one month old now... so fast! And we got a full month celebration box :)


Last but not least--- movie night... This is the second one we did this year and it was fun...

Good movie, nice snacks and a fun filled night. We watched Cars this time round (bring back memories from our trip to US- Route 66)


That marks the end of October...

November will be busy as well with the kids year end concert, orientation for Jaclyn at her primary school and school holiday is here, which also means busy time for mummy... no more morning break.

Kidzoona indoor playground at Jusco Bukit Indah, Johor, Malaysia.

We recently brought the kids to Kizoona at Jusco Bukit Indah. I find it very worth it in terms of the price and the facilities are also pretty good.  The place is not big but there is enough things for the kids to spend a few hours there... Includes bouncing castle, some individual shops (flower shop, cafe, supermarket for kids to play around), a big pool of ball, some cars, and a huge rolling ball-like thing where kids can go in and rotate. Fully air conditioned and there is only one entrance to go in and out. Parents can stay inside to accompany your kids at no additional charge. Just remember to bring your own socks otherwise have to purchase before going in. Toilet is not in the playground so there only cons is have to bring the kids out to toilet. Tickets are for a whole day so unlimited entry throughout the day.  Kids can play, go our for lunch and then come back and play again.  If there is two of you looking after the kids , can take turn to go shop

Chinese New Year Celebration in Dubai

This is our second year residing in Dubai and Chinese New Year is not a public holiday in the UAE. This year we decided to stay in Dubai as there is no school holiday that coincides with the Chinese New Year period. There is a few celebrations going on as there is quite a number of Chinese in UAE. There is lion dance competition at Dubai Park and Resort, lion/dragon dance parade at City Walk and some celebrations at Jumeirah Lake Towers. Many Chinese restaurants offer reunion dinner package (at a premium price of course) and some renowned hotels offer buffets with Chinese new year theme.  One week before the celebration, I started making some Chinese new year cookies/snacks to get into the mood. My favourite is the pineapple tarts to symbolise wealth. I even attempted to make the fillings from scratch but I have to admit it is a lot of work for 36 tarts that I make. Great for family/ friends bonding- KUKUP 2 day 1 night TRIP

Situated in Pontian District, Johor, Malaysia- KUKUP Fishing Village is a wonderful place for family/friends bonding.  The chalets are build on the sea and there is not much attractions around the area so basically most activities are done in or around the chalet which is great for bonding. There is no place to park the car in front of the chalet as all of the chalets are build on water, so do park your car (if you are driving) at the designated car park before the jetty. We parked at JJ Carpark (RM7 for 24 hours) and the staff send us to the jetty area using his van. We can then walk or take a boat to the chalet.  We decided to walk....and we manage to enjoyed a cooling and refreshing coconut pudding on the way... SECOND HONEYMOON : 10 Days @ United Kingdom and Switzerland (Day 2)

Day 2 Waking up at 3.30 am this morning due to jet lag ( It is already 11.30 am in Singapore), spend some time blogging on first day of my trip and about 6.15 am, hubby and me went out for a walk to catch the sunrise at 6.28 am. Sunrise is pink purple-ish and it is pretty.  Pink sunrise This is the farmhouse that we stayed in for 2 nights. The owner stays here as well and have 3 bedrooms up for Bed and Breakfast. The owner's grandchildren stays here as well when we are here and they are really friendly, was waving to us when we strolled the outside of the house. Later on, during breakfast time they played with me as well, sharing their toy car and truck. The elder grand-daughter even asked why I walked outside so early in the morning as it was cold... Travel tips to Perth in Winter

My first travel post will be sharing our family winter trip in Perth.  HOW LONG TO GO: Our trip is 2 weeks long as part of it is hubby's business trip, a trip of 5-7 days will be sufficient. For those planning for a trip this June School Holiday , Perth is actually quite a nice place to go. In contrary to normal believe that weather is bad in Australia in winter, we actually find it quite cooling and not too windy or rainy as long as you avoid Busselton and Margaret River area. Focus your trip to Perth up to Rockingham and anywhere to the north of Perth will have cooling and sunny weather most of the time. Check out the Perth weather forecast   here. A day trip to Fujairah, away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai.

Half term break- a phrase uncommon to schools in Asia. We have always known all breaks as school holiday. Here in international school , there is spring break, winter break , summer break and in between there is also some short half term break. This is the kids first school holiday after starting school in April 2018 so after a busy one and a half month, kiddy have 4 days to rest. We spend the first two days hanging around the house, went to indoor playground and accompany daddy to collect his new car! With our new ride, we decided one morning to go for a day trip to a nearby emirate. Fujairah is one of the seven emirates that makes up United Arab Emirates (UAE). It lies on the East Coast of UAE along the Gulf of Oman, well known for its beaches and Hajar Mountains. Its landscape is very much different from Dubai. Kuala Lumpur and Genting Getaway April 2014 (Part 1)

We love going on road trip to Malaysia for various reasons. First, I could just pack anything (I meant anything at all-clothes, pampers, rice grain, thermos etc without worrying about exceeding weight limit) Secondly, I can just dump everything into the car's boot (stroller, luggage, pillows, bolster) Thirdly, food and accommodation is relatively cheaper in Malaysia as compared to Singapore due to the exchange rates so it went easy on our budget :) Lastly, with kiddos on board especially young ones (less than 1 year old) it is easy to go on road trip. It offers great flexibility, anything I want to breast feed, I can just stop and breastfeed at the back seat, anytime we need to change a soil pampers, we could do so either in the car or the nearest changing areas. There is no need to rush for flights, catching trains at certain schedule etc... Restaurant Albergue 1601 Review (Macao)

I came across this restaurant while searching for where to dine during our trip. The review is good with a few recommendation of dishes to order. Plus, the location is near St Paul Ruins so it kinda fit in our schedule and here we are. This is really the best meal during our trip and I would say one of the best meal I ever had in my life so ya, I definitely highly super recommend this place when u come and visit Macao :) Ambience is good and definitely good enough for special occasion. It is located in this super old building that is build in 1601 hence the name. The building has been redecorated and it looks pretty now.  After we ordered, we were given a complimentary bread basket and warm/cold water.  Enjoying the warm complimentary bread basket Yummy We have ordered stuffed squid as entree but it was kinda disappointing. Playground @ Changi Airport Terminal 1, Singapore

There are lots of free playground in Singapore. From neighbourhood playground to shopping mall playground to playground in airport. Most of the playground are free except those proper indoor playground with huge slides, ball etc. Airport playground is cool cause we get to see aeroplane, it is fully air con and the playground are clean. Admiring and wondering how it moves up and down... Peace to the world! Love my boots! Time for some playground. This playground is situated at the public area, there are also bigger playground located after check in which we will visit if we are travelling (we usually arrive slightly early so that the kids can play at the playground before boarding). Activities area whereby paper and colour pencil is provided. Art work! Step stool for the kids... Winter in Perth 2014 (Day 3 and 4)

Day 3 After spending 2 days in Fremantle, we checked out of the hotel and drove into the Perth CBD area... It is about half an hour drive and our first stop is to fill our stomach at Hog's Breath, highly recommended by my ex-colleague who used to study in Perth. Hubby and me both ordered their Prime Rib Steak (mine is original version and hubby's one is top with egg and bacon).  They have 3 types of cut to suit different stomach: 1) Traditional cut-about 300g steak 2) Lite cut-about 200g steak 3) Mega cut-about 400g steak While waiting, the kids got their colour pack... so they are enjoying themselves.
