Hong Kong Macao Travelogue March 2016 -Day 5 (FINAL)

Today is our last day in Hong Kong and our flight is at 2 plus in the afternoon. So, we had some time in the morning to check out dim sum in Hong Kong.

Dim sum @ Garden Restaurant is generally good and price is reasonable too. 

We checked out of the hotel, and took bus A21 back to airport (Cost HKD$33) and it brings us straight to Terminal 2.

From there, we got our Octopus Card refunded. We also manage to get some last minute goodies from Kee Wah Bakery. After checking in, we had to take a train to Terminal 1 where all the boarding gates are located. 

For lunch, dad finally got to taste goose meat that he had been wanting to eat before leaving HK. We had lunch at Tsui Wah Restaurant and the food is yummy, portion is large too. I especially love the warm lime orange juice, it is soooo good!

Indoor Wildlife Centre in UAE- a great place to escape the heat during the summer months!

It is not easy to find places to entertain the kids in the summer that doesn't involves shopping mall, indoor playground or just chilling at home with TV/games. We all would prefer to minimise screen time and kids love the nature. So, when I came across a wildlife park that is fully indoor, I make it a point to bring the kids. It is in Sharjah, google "Sharjah Desert Park" and it's about 30-40 mins drive from Dubai. The entrance fees is AED 15 for adults and absolutely free for kids under 12 years old. Payment is made at the entrance as you drive in and you can enter the 4 sections inside in the park with the same ticket---> Arabia's Wildlife Centre, Children's Farm, Islamic Botanical Garden and Sharjah Natural History Museum.  ARABIA'S WILDLIFE CENTRE Our favourite is the Arabia's Wildlife Centre. Winter in Perth 2014 (Day 1 and 2)

First travel blog post on our 2 weeks trip to Perth, Australia in June/July 2014. This is our first solo family trip abroad (2 adults to 2 kids). Kidzoona indoor playground at Jusco Bukit Indah, Johor, Malaysia.

We recently brought the kids to Kizoona at Jusco Bukit Indah. I find it very worth it in terms of the price and the facilities are also pretty good.  The place is not big but there is enough things for the kids to spend a few hours there... Includes bouncing castle, some individual shops (flower shop, cafe, supermarket for kids to play around), a big pool of ball, some cars, and a huge rolling ball-like thing where kids can go in and rotate. Fully air conditioned and there is only one entrance to go in and out. Parents can stay inside to accompany your kids at no additional charge. Just remember to bring your own socks otherwise have to purchase before going in. Toilet is not in the playground so there only cons is have to bring the kids out to toilet. Westgate Hotel Review (Ximending, Taipei, Taiwan)

We stayed in Westgate Hotel during our trip to Taipei in September 2015. Hotel is generally clean and comfortable. We opted for executive room but our only complain is there is only a really small window with no view at all. Hubby blamed the "lack of sunlight from window" causes us to wake up late everyday but I think we are just generally pretty good in sleeping. Room Room is a good size for Ximending standard. There is a queen size bed, shower, toilet, TV, and a separate living area on a platform. In room safe is provided for safekeeping of expensive items. Bed-queen size. Separate living area.. pretty cosy TV Sink Toilet with multiple cool function-heated seat etc Shower head has good water pressure but the space is quite small. I can't hang my clothes in the shower room as the water will splashes on my clothes. This is how small the shower room is... Great for family/ friends bonding- KUKUP 2 day 1 night TRIP

Situated in Pontian District, Johor, Malaysia- KUKUP Fishing Village is a wonderful place for family/friends bonding.  The chalets are build on the sea and there is not much attractions around the area so basically most activities are done in or around the chalet which is great for bonding. There is no place to park the car in front of the chalet as all of the chalets are build on water, so do park your car (if you are driving) at the designated car park before the jetty. We parked at JJ Carpark (RM7 for 24 hours) and the staff send us to the jetty area using his van. We can then walk or take a boat to the chalet.  We decided to walk....and we manage to enjoyed a cooling and refreshing coconut pudding on the way... Finally...our first camping experience! @Jebel Sham, Oman.

We had zero experience in camping and despite attempting to camp since couple of months ago, we have not succeeded. Either the campsite was too windy and deserted, or it rains on the day we wanted to camp. The closest thing we did was to camp in our backyard in December when the weather is really cooling.  It is summer now and summer in Dubai is not mild so to speak. Daytime temperature can go up to 48 degree celcius and the sun is scorching hot! I was not expecting to camp in summer but we chanced upon a few blogs sharing their experiences camping on Jebel Sham and we checked the weather. It's 18-24 degree celcius up there and sounds like a good option to escape the heat in Dubai. The drive from Dubai to Jebel Sham takes about 4.5 hours via Mezyad Border Crossing near Al Ain. Winter in MELBOURNE 2016- Day 4

Today we will be departing Phillip Island and heading to Great Ocean Road. We had breakfast at home, packed up our stuff and depart by 10.30am. Before departing Phillip Island for good, we stopped by Cape Woolamai. The beach area is huge, clean sand and vast sea...There are a couple of surfers surfing in the sea as well. Cape Woolamai Once the kids saw the sand, they shouted " We want to play with the sand!" I brought slippers for them so we changed their shoes into slippers and off they go! Little Jaclyn playing with sand.. One of his latest signature SMILE I am a happy girl! We played for about an hour and the kids left Cape Woolamai, feeling satisfied. It is almost lunch time so we had a quick stop at McD for toilet and some bites. They have breakfast set all day long, we got ourselves a nugget and some hash brown and of course, not forgetting our  FAVOURITE FRIES! Winter in Perth 2014 (Day 9 and 10)

Day 9 We love this rented holiday home, its cosy and nice. After a good night sleep, we had a quick breakfast at home (ya, it is cosy enough to call home, look little one are enjoying food on dining table!).. Our simple breakfast is milk, cereal and shortbread cookies.. :) Yummy shortbread... Boy boy loves the cereal Time to get ready to check out Busselton and its surrounding. While we are busy getting ready, boy boy busy playing with my shoe!!!! I love your shoe mummy! And little girl got hold of my scarf and started to pose around... Enjoying the plant outside the house Busselton jetty is the longest timber-piled jetty at the Southern Hemisphere, extending 1.8 km into the Geographe Bay.... also a heritage site....plus they have a Underwater Observatory as well and we can't wait to visit.. Australia in general is quite kid's friendly. From their city centre transportation to kiddy meals in restaurant. All major supermarket also features a great variety of kid's friendly snack including organic variety. Travel tips to Perth in Winter

My first travel post will be sharing our family winter trip in Perth.  HOW LONG TO GO: Our trip is 2 weeks long as part of it is hubby's business trip, a trip of 5-7 days will be sufficient. For those planning for a trip this June School Holiday , Perth is actually quite a nice place to go. In contrary to normal believe that weather is bad in Australia in winter, we actually find it quite cooling and not too windy or rainy as long as you avoid Busselton and Margaret River area. Focus your trip to Perth up to Rockingham and anywhere to the north of Perth will have cooling and sunny weather most of the time. Check out the Perth weather forecast   here.
