Somerset on Elizabeth Hotel Review (Service Apartment, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA)

We stayed for 3 nights at Somerset on Elizabeth during our Melbourne trip. We are very satisfied with the hotel. Located in a very central location, there are no lack of wonderful cafe and restaurants nearby. Even huge departmental store, a four storey H&M are all located within walking distances. This is definitely a good choice if you are looking for a very centrally located hotel (service apartment). There is a tram stop just within minutes from the hotel as well.

We love the fact that the washer and dryer, and a small kitchenette is available. Very good amenities when you have kids travelling with you.

Nice touch from the hotel as we are celebrating my birthday, with a box of chocolates compliment from the hotel.
For parking, the hotel provide 24 hours parking at $25 (at a shopping mall next door).

Overall, we had a good stay during the trip.

We recently brought the kids to Kizoona at Jusco Bukit Indah. I find it very worth it in terms of the price and the facilities are also pretty good.  The place is not big but there is enough things for the kids to spend a few hours there... Includes bouncing castle, some individual shops (flower shop, cafe, supermarket for kids to play around), a big pool of ball, some cars, and a huge rolling ball-like thing where kids can go in and rotate. Fully air conditioned and there is only one entrance to go in and out. Parents can stay inside to accompany your kids at no additional charge. Just remember to bring your own socks otherwise have to purchase before going in. Toilet is not in the playground so there only cons is have to bring the kids out to toilet. Winter in MELBOURNE 2016-Day 1

After 7 hours, we arrived..... We survived the flight There is an express lane for family with kids so we cleared custom in no time... this is one of the benefit of bringing young children and many countries do provide a special lane for kids which is good.... Loving our new toy! Let me help with the suitcase After collecting our checked in luggage bag, we queue up for Optus Sim Card for about 30 mins.. It is a very popular prepaid telco company as they provide the best deal. $2 for 500MB each day with unlimited call/text to local number. Taiwan Travelogue September 2015 (Day 1)

Today is the beginning of our trip and it is gonna be a long day. Our flight is at 6.40am departing Changi Airport so we had to wake the kids up at 4am in the morning, not exactly the best chore in the world. Jaclyn basically does not move at all, continue sleeping. Justin half awake but he insist that I continue sleeping and suggested that we should go tomorrow instead! Luckily after 5 minutes, we manage to get the kids out of bed. We gave them a quick shower and then off we go to the airport. Check in is fast and we had a quick breakfast as well. Its time to go! We had to transit in KL and reached Taipei at 2.15pm local time (no time difference). It's Harrod's bear... Winter in MELBOURNE 2016- Day 4

Today we will be departing Phillip Island and heading to Great Ocean Road. We had breakfast at home, packed up our stuff and depart by 10.30am. Before departing Phillip Island for good, we stopped by Cape Woolamai. The beach area is huge, clean sand and vast sea...There are a couple of surfers surfing in the sea as well. Cape Woolamai Once the kids saw the sand, they shouted " We want to play with the sand!" I brought slippers for them so we changed their shoes into slippers and off they go! Little Jaclyn playing with sand.. One of his latest signature SMILE I am a happy girl! We played for about an hour and the kids left Cape Woolamai, feeling satisfied. It is almost lunch time so we had a quick stop at McD for toilet and some bites. They have breakfast set all day long, we got ourselves a nugget and some hash brown and of course, not forgetting our  FAVOURITE FRIES! Hong Kong Macao Travelogue March 2016 -Day 5 (FINAL)

Today is our last day in Hong Kong and our flight is at 2 plus in the afternoon. So, we had some time in the morning to check out dim sum in Hong Kong.  What to order... So many choices... Garden Restaurant which is just a few steps away from our hotel... Dig in.... Dim sum @ Garden Restaurant is generally good and price is reasonable too.  We checked out of the hotel, and took bus A21 back to airport (Cost HKD$33) and it brings us straight to Terminal 2. From there, we got our Octopus Card refunded. We also manage to get some last minute goodies from Kee Wah Bakery. After checking in, we had to take a train to Terminal 1 where all the boarding gates are located.  For lunch, dad finally got to taste goose meat that he had been wanting to eat before leaving HK. Two Girls Extended Weekend Trip @ Ho Chih Minh, Vietnam (Day 4-FINAL DAY)

Today mark the last day of our girly weekend trip. We woke up at 8am today, had breakfast and check out at 11am as we wanted to go for a last cuppa Vietnam coffee and lunch before going to the airport. We make our way to a nearby Highland Coffee and I had a iced blended green tea jelly while G chose a cup of authentic Vietnam coffee. It was sooo good as usual. My green tea jelly which is very creamy and flavourful! For lunch, we went to Pho24 as we had not tried Pho (flat noodle soup) yet for this trip. This branch is by far my favourite and their deep fried meat spring rolls are very addictive. Winter in MELBOURNE 2016- Day 9

Day 9 We woke up at 8.30am today. Hubby prepared some pan fried salmon while I cook the squid. I am amazed on how the squid turn out as I did not have any recipe in mind, just pan fried it over the pan and added a tiny bit of salt. It is so nice but too sinful so we did not finish it.  Pan Fried Squid Pan Fried Salmon We showered and left the hotel about 10.45am to try one of the Melbourne famous cafe, Manchester Press. There was a queue but as it is weekday today, the queue aren't that bad. We got a seat within 10 minutes. Interior of the cafe Of course, we must order some coffee. Otherwise, it is a wasted trip. The coffee is really good, now I know why Melbourne is famous for coffee. You don't see any Starbucks around cause their local coffee is really very good! Manchester Press is famous for their bagel. I did not know what is the hype all about until I gave it a try. OMG, the bagel is so good. I have never tasted such a nice bagel.... ...

Winter in MELBOURNE 2016- Day 5

We had a great rest at the holiday park cabin. It is a wonderful stay. The next morning, we woke up early at 8am as we wanted to see if there is any koalas on the trees (was not able to see much as it was almost dark already when we reach). Morning walk while searching for any signs of Koala  Mummy, where are the koalas.....while sister goes "Koala.... where are you?" Unfortunately, we are out of luck. No koalas to be found on the trees anywhere. We did see lots of birds though... So, we went back to the cabin, had breakfast, shower and checked out at 10am. We went back to the road leading to Grey River as we managed to spot a koala on the tree yesterday night. The same koala is still sleeping, looks so cute like a fur-ball! We passed by Cape Patton Lookout and we stop for a bit to enjoy the scenery. Next stop is Apollo Bay. There is a huge playground so the kids went and play. Happy - back from the playground. Two Girls Extended Weekend Trip @ Ho Chih Minh, Vietnam (Day 3)

Today is a very relax day for us, we woke up late at around 9am and spend half of the day chit chat-ing over breakfast until close to noon time. Complimentary breakfast by hotel at MOF Restaurant After breakfast, we walked to a nearby family mart to get some food to bring home. After that, we went back the hotel and showered. Finally, we are out of the hotel by 1.30pm.  Initially our plan is to visit the palace but it seems a bit late now and we wanted to go Ben Thanh market again plus we have a reservation at the Sky Bar this evening so we decided to skip the palace.  So, we decided to just snap a shot of the palace from the cab since we won't be visiting it! We went to Ben Thanh Market and I bought a hat and a cap for my boy, a paper chinese style fan for my girl and G bought more dresses and some painting for her house. Some nice painting at Ben Thanh. Winter in MELBOURNE 2016- Day 11-FINAL DAY

Day 11 (FINAL DAY) Time flies, today marks the last day of our 11 day 10 nights Melbourne Trip.  When we woke up in the morning, the dryer spoil :( We are pretty panicked as we have washed one whole load of clothes and wanted to dry them before we do our final packing. We called the reception and after checking the dryer, they confirmed that it is spoilt. Housekeeping then helped us to dry our clothes using the hotel dryer and send us back the dry clothes in about 30 minutes. Kudos to the team! We had a simple breakfast at hotel (juice, biscuit etc) to clear up the remaining food that we opened during the trip. For brunch, we had to visit Manchester Press again.
